May 2024 — PodPod

An interview with the folks from PodPod:

What's one thing we should know about you?

We're a coffee pod company! But we also sell whole beans and ground coffee, which is what you'll be receiving from us this month. Did you know that most coffee pod companies don't even roast their own coffee? If you don't believe us, just ask them for yourself! At PodPod, we roast all our coffee in-house, which guarantees a fresher experience than you've ever had. That goes for our whole beans, too!

What excites you about coffee?

Great coffee doesn't have to be expensive. We've refined our procedures and processes to ensure we can deliver the best coffee pods (and in this case, coffee beans!) you've ever had, at a price that you wouldn't expect.

If you could recommend one song to listen to while drinking your coffee, what would it be?

Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter because it’s in the name, but also because it’s a great song.

Espresso

Espresso Roast

Domingos Martins, Espirito Santo, Brazil + Guji Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia

What's your favourite thing about this coffee?

This coffee is packed with flavour. It’s so yummy as a milky coffee, and we love the notes of caramel and toffee that shine through.

What fictional character does this coffee remind you of?

Mary Poppins. She brings a sense of magic and sweetness wherever she goes, much like the comforting sweetness of caramel.

What's one interesting fact about where this coffee was grown?

One of the components of this coffee was grown by Henrique Sloper on his farm, Fazenda Camocim in Espirito Santo, Brazil. In 1962 Olivar Araújo (Henrique’s father), moved to Fazenda Camocim and for more than 30 years Olivar replanted trees, protected nascent species and recovered the soil, while becoming known as a pioneer in the production of organic coffees in this region of Espírito Santo. The farm was succeeded by his son Henrique Sloper, who was also president of BSCA (Brazil Specialty Coffee Association). Camocim’s evolution continued under Henrique, with a renewed focus on high quality organic coffee free from agrotoxins. Through trial, research and collaboration with like-minded farmers overseas (including Australian vineyards) Camocim began to produce biodynamic coffee.

Filter

Filter Roast

Domingos Martins, Espirito Santo, Brazil + Guji Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia

What's your favourite thing about this coffee?

This coffee was roasted specifically to be enjoyed as a filter brew, and we love that the roast brings out the zestiness and fruitiness of the coffee. So yummy!

What fictional character does this coffee remind you of?

Korra from “The Legend of Korra”. Korra's journey as the Avatar, mastering elements to restore balance, mirrors the zest and vitality of this coffee.
